Biography

Peter Gordon is a York born playwright. His stage plays are performed world-wide and he is particularly well known for his trilogy of whodunnit spoofs featuring the inept 'Inspector Pratt'.

General
 
Peter was born in York in 1950. Now a full-time writer, his earlier career as a Chartered Civil Engineer took him as far afield as the Middle East and eventually led him to become Head of Civil Engineering at a UK university.

 
Peter now lives in York with his wife, Janice., As well as writing he has a keen interest in music. Over a number of years he played drums with various rock bands.

 
Writing Career
 
Peter has always had an interest in writing but was a 'late convert' to stage work. His first play was published in 1990. To date he has written nine comedy plays, a psychological thriller and a one act comedy. Nine of these plays have been published and are available for performance through the play catalogue of Josef Weinberger Ltd.

 
All of Peter's plays have enjoyed enormous success, particularly the 'Inspector Pratt' trilogy of Murdered to Death, Secondary Cause of Death and Death by Fatal Murder. These plays have currently had four professional tours/productions in the UK and USA with more planned for 2010 and 2011. They have also had over 750 amateur productions in the UK and overseas, including USA, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
 
Other favourites are Out of Focus and Third Week in August, which was recently performed at the world-famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall.
 
Peter has recently completed his latest play, Par for the Course, and has several ongoing projects including a screenplay and a musical adaptation of Generations Apart.

He has recently formed Piggyback Theatre Company which is a not-for-profit theatre project which aims to perform new work in aid of a local charity.
