General
Peter was born in York in 1950. Now a full-time writer, his earlier career as a chartered civil engineer took him as far afield as the middle east and eventually led to him becoming head of civil engineering at a UK university.
Peter has now settled back in York, where he lives with his wife, Janice. As well as writing, Peter has a keen interest in music; until recently he was regularly playing drums with a rock band. Writing
Peter has always had an interest in writing but was a 'late convert' to stage work. His first play was published in 1990. To date, he has written nine comedy plays and one psychological thriller. Eight of his plays have been published and are available for performance through the play catalogue of Josef Weinberger Ltd. All of Peters' plays have enjoyed enormous success, particularly the 'Inspector Pratt' series of plays, 'Murdered to Death' , 'Secondary Cause of Death' and 'Death by Fatal Murder'. 'Murdered to Death' has had over 500 productions in the UK and overseas, including South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. It had a well received twelve week national tour in the Autumn of 2002 which was staged by UK Productions with an all-star cast including Trevor Bannister, Geoffrey Davies, Nicholas Smith and Anna Karen. In 2004 it had a six week professional production in the USA. It has also been performed at the Edinburgh Festival and, together with two other of his plays, translated into Dutch. A German translation is planned. Two professional productions of his work are currently planned for 2008. Peter has recently been working on a project to adapt one of his plays, 'Generations Apart', to a musical. |
